Catch More Flies

This has been an experience, some good and some bad.  During the short span of time, I have had the occasion to meet a number of people from a number of different backgrounds.  All of them have imparted knowledge and wisdom to me in some way.  The majority it seem, no matter their background or past all have one basic desire - for people to be nicer and more respectful - both to themselves and them.

The world has changed and continues to change - for in fact change is the only constant there is and we can be ascertain it will take place.  The change that occurs though is in all of us and we control how the change forms.  It is a collective change though each one of us individually can help to shape it, control its outcome.

Listening to different people in different places and different situations I notice that many people do not know, or choose not to be kind and respectful to others.  Often times they are not kind or respectful to themselves either for whatever reason(s).  They should be for we are all the same, each and every one of us.

Often times I wonder if they even teach some of the sayings that I learned in school like - The Golden Rule ‘do unto others as you would have them do to you,’ ‘share and share alike,’ for example.  These seem to be such simple words, simple sayings but so powerful.  The old adage, ‘you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar,’ is as true today as the day the saying was first uttered.

Most everyone has probably observed this in their lives and in some instances acted upon it.  There are times when people turn to vinegar because it seems the only way to get their point across or gets someone’s attention.  Try using a softer, kinder tone of voice.

As the saying goes, ‘Practice Random Acts of Kindness.’
